CAED Foundation

The College of Architecture & Environmental Design Foundation (CAED Foundation) was founded in 1985 as a tribute to the leadership of the college’s founding dean, George Hasslein, and to continue his legacy of student-focused, interdisciplinary studies, carried out through the Cal Poly tradition of learn by doing. The George Hasslein Endowed Chair was established in his memory.
The George Hasslein Medal is awarded to a Cal Poly alumnus or benefactor who demonstrates the commitment to George’s passion for interdisciplinary learning and teaching.
The CAED Foundation accepts contributions to fulfill its mission to provide financial support to the students, programs and instructors at the College of Architecture and Environmental Design, Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo. They focus particularly on funding that supports:
- Student Centered Education
- Close Ties to the Profession
- Interdisciplinary Education
- Creative Care and Concern for our Environment.
