Lydia Humphrey Memorial Work-Study & Loan Programs
Overview
The Lydia Humphrey Memorial Work-Study Program and the Lydia Humphrey Memorial Loan Program are made possible by a generous endowment bequest from the estate of Ms. Geneveve Musick in honor of her sister. Students enrolled in one of the majors within the College of Architecture & Environmental Design at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, are eligible to apply.
The CAED Dean's Office coordinates the offering of several opportunities for CAED students to participate in the Lydia Humphrey Memorial Work-Study Program. The University Financial Aid office administers the traditional Lydia Humphrey Memorial Loan Program.
Lydia Humphrey Memorial Work-Study Program
There are two application periods for this program: 1) Academic year covering Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters; and 2) Summer Quarter. Students participating in an off-campus program are not eligible to apply.
Students applying to the Lydia Humphrey Memorial Work-Study Program (LHMWS) positions for the academic year (Fall-Winter-Spring Quarters) must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Note: Summer Quarter applicants must meet the same eligibility requirements as above. In addition, students must have been enrolled full-time in the preceding quarter and plan to be enrolled in the following Fall Quarter to be eligible for employment Summer Quarter. Students accepted to start their LHMWS program for Summer Quarter, continue through the following academic year.
The maximum LHMWS amount per year is $2,500 ($9.75 per hour) for students participating during Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters. Students receive an incremental amount consistent with the number of hours worked each pay period. Students are asked to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week for scheduling purposes. Checks are disbursed following the university’s student employee payroll schedule. Please note, if you are unable to commit to the minimum hours of work per week each quarter, your supervisor will meet with you to determine whether or not to revoke the remaining balance of your Lydia Humphrey Work Study award.
Students coordinate the hours they will participate in the LHMWS program with the respective support staff supervisors. During Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters, students may participate up to a maximum of 20 hours in any single week. The exact number of hours may vary based on the individual student’s course load for a particular quarter and prior agreement with the area supervisor.
LHMWS participants are required to fulfill the duties that are outlined in the respective CAED support area they are assigned, and to work under the direct supervision of the CAED technical staff who will provide students with appropriate training in their area of assignment. The number of students that may participate in the LHMWS program is limited by the total amount of funding received from the endowment and may vary from year to year.
